Archive – storing off documents that says something about a place, a person or a period in time etc.

Go trough the old stash -> an archive project. The family albums I collected in Jutland was after more than half a year still standing in a bag behind the armchair, just waiting for me. Something had to be done! At last I ripped of the bandage in one pull (ouch!), or more truly I opened a bottle of red wine - and went trough the albums front to back and back to front and so on, laughing and crying the way trough. The work process has been going on for about half a year, on and off (I have two children after all). I have been making some pieces and re-found my memory of the photography in my life. I was taking pictures when I where young. It is not just a habit I picked up when turning 30. It is really nice having photography back in my every day life and also back as a part of me again.

There has been zoomed and cut in a lot of pictures, both photographs of me in different ages and pictures I have composed and shot. Pictures I have taken of my brothers and those that were taken of us together. Photographs of parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, pets, objects and nature. Then it became one big jigsaw. Some pictures just matched, others were best kept alone and some of theme needed company from a new photo.

It started out with photos hiding in a bag but became pictures hanging on the wall at my first solo exhibit on May 9th 2015.
